Upscale, Adapt, Reuse

“It’s easier to buy new materials every time. But we have to find a way to reuse and repurpose, or nothing will change. We must use less, in our buildings and in our lives.”

Oru Sutton’s latest addition, makes a radical commitment to upcycling and reusing materials.

The project challenges conventional construction by integrating salvaged materials at every stage rather than relying on new resources.

Reclaimed bricks from demolished site walls form the flooring, while surplus steel pipes—originally intended for large-scale oil and gas infrastructure are transformed into structural elements for the roof. Smaller salvaged components, are repurposed into planters, sculptures, and integrated design features.

This dynamic approach demands computational workflows that adapt to available materials, demonstrating how technology can drive circular design solutions. By proving that reuse and upscaling can be both structurally sound and visually compelling.
